Let's see how much I can explain without explaining too much.
Merit moved to California prepared to live with two strangers, also baseball guys. Guy #1 was going to have his own bedroom, double the cost. Merit and Guy #2 would share a room.
Guy #2 has had a series of mishaps, poor choices, or maybe some would say just a lot of fun!
Guy #1 is quiet, reserved, and a respectful roommate.
The college is not what these guys expected. It consists of a floor on a high rise building. The seven baseball players Merit has met, so far, have been bummed to learn this.
Merit loves the beaches down there, the baseball stadiums, the energy, and the vibe.
Guy #1 has made Merit's first ten days there more tolerable.
He is a good guy and they have shared good conversations. Just today Guy #1 packed all of his stuff and moved. He was refunded 80 percent of his tuition and lost a fair amount breaking his lease. Merit called me. And I was sad and shocked.
Having adult children is way harder than I thought it would be. Even though Merit is responsible, kind, and fun and the very best part about Merit is he can usually make the best out of a sticky situation, it is still hard.
I have been praying many times throughout the day and night about Merit's roommate situation. And boy this is not what I expected.
These days there are a few key things that are getting me through; bike rides, the weather - as strange as that sounds - these crisp mornings and warm afternoons are dreamy! The fun of Willem's senior year is also a mood lifter. Hazel and Oren are doing well in school and working hard.
These volleyball girls are a JOY to watch!
