Saturday!
BASEBALL is upon us
This is just so fun! It is supposed to be 60 degrees today. Willem will play JV first game, Varsity second game.
Merit's weekend games are canceled (bummer) and he hopes to head home after their scrimmage today. It has been five or six weeks since he has been here. Hazel and Oren said if he does not come home soon, they will beg to head there !
Hazel and Oren are out at the site of the to be barn - doing a little horse barn dreamin'
These verses are a blessing to me today;
He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love.
Zepheniah 3:17
The Lord will be a refuge... in times of trouble. Psalm 9:9

Happy Friday!
I laughed several times Wednesday in a second grade class I subbed in. Out loud.
They were blurters.
They tattled.
But they reminded each other to be good listeners.
They reminded each other to try to earn the next letter in the word PARTY so they could get a PARTY.
Their learning was alive. The beauty of that learning happening directly in front of me.
I read the Perfect Pig (love that book)! And Goldilocks and the Three Bears and their eyes ... and the quiet room ... it felt really good.
Sometimes when I teach, I have some energy renewed. It happened yesterday.
Oren is raising money for the American Heart Association. This kid! He has a heart for others.
The support had been phenomenal!
Happy chickens - hoping for warmer weather and more bugs... enjoying dirt baths when they can....

LAKE LENORE CAVES
Yesterday was gorgeous!
Today it is trying to spit snow!
It must be March.
Love this beauty! So close by!Monday, March 7, 2022
HOPE
Merit is so appreciating the guys on his team and life in Walla Walla! They traveled to Mt Hood this past weekend. Merit called me as the team was walking into Apple Bees Saturday night - this is all just right up his alley.
Their days are full. The days are getting longer, more time to see the field.
He really makes me laugh when he shares the particulars. Math is tough so carving out enough time for that is proving to be somewhat challenging these March days.
We miss him a lot.
Tasha, Reese, and girls were here this past weekend.
Seeing Tasha here, first hand with big chunks of time allowed me a clearer picture of this extensive journey since her transplant.
She is a strong woman. She is an overcomer.
Headaches are a common side effect from some of the meds.
She is really immune suppressed so we are hoping and praying those white blood cells can increase.
Some medications make her shaky too. She starts off great in the morning but then that issue can become more difficult as the day goes on.
We hiked Lake Lenore Caves so that felt pretty cool! She could not have done that a year ago. So having that ability to make that climb with a heart that CAN handle it, it is a blessing.
What I love is there is so much hope - HOPE in a new HEART and HOPE in the name of Jesus.
And your life will be brighter than the noon day; its darkness will be like the morning. And you will feel secure, because there is hope; you will look around and find rest in security. Job 11:17-19

Life, as we know it
Basin Feed has their chicks in! yes, already
We may not get chickens this spring if we do, we would only get one or two. I want to wait till it warms up a bit...But we will get some mallards I think!
Our pekin and mallard are loving life on Crab Creek!
I have several boxes and totes of old papers, recipes, newspaper clippings, school awards for Merit and Willem when they were in elementary and on... even some pre-school stuff. OH! My saving heart!
Willem went through a bin today and I gave him permission to throw a good share of it away! This was not easy but our closets are full, full, full. This was just one bin. And honestly it may be a month or months before we tackle others, but that is okay.
Oren is soaring and although he likes school he LOVES home days!
Willem has baseball try outs this week!
Hazel is doing great in 6th grade! I enjoyed hearing about a writing piece on autism that she is doing.
Yesterday that was a specialness about it that I think I will always remember and maybe never be able to fully explain. The morning started out rough. By 11:20 I was at Columbia Basin College, watching the Walla Walla Warriors play their first games of the season. Their preparation has been for more intense and time consuming than I would have imagined. I watched the Warriors interact and was so impressed with their encouragement, their laughter too and their attitude. These 18-22 year old guys have a lot on their plate. I realize this more and more and I can say I was impressed by what I saw. It was really hard to leave those ball fields. Merit was closing pitcher in their first game of the double header and he did his job well.
I am so bummed because I am having these recent vision issues. eek. Headaches too.
Eye strain, vision change, stress... just some prayers that it eases a bit and sometime soon. I think I am going to another eye doctor to learn more but just hope I know the correct steps to take.
I am so excited for tomorrow! I will be teaching second grade!

A sunny February day!
Nellie is Vance’s sidekick so now she is "sidekicking" with us! Grocery shopping, dentist appt, ortho appt, basketball...

I hold you in my heart, for we share together God's blessing.
I hold you in my heart, for we share together God's blessing.
Philippians 1:7
Oh, I love this verse.
It will be added to some of my valentines!
Borrowing was not clicking with Oren - math borrowing - and after Hazel and I worked and worked with him - along with his teacher being great - he GOT IT!
Basketball!
and the Chiefs are doing well -

February First!
Second semester has started for the Jansen kids. Hazel LOVED ART and is wishing it could have continued... next year!
Oren is cruising along; working on borrowing, telling time, and working hard to complete his reading log each month.
Willem does SO much better with in person learning compared to remote. His grades are looking GOOD!
We do not talk to Merit like we did. His course load is heavy and SPRING might be right around the corner so those guys are working HARD in preparation! It's pretty exciting! He REALLY likes his teammates! GO WARRIORS
I have been doing water color when I have a little time here and there. Hazel sometimes joins me.
When I sub, the students refresh me!
Their learning is so important.
I lost a little enthusiasm for my blog when my grandma passed. When we talked on the phone she often asked me about something I had posted, it was a fun topic of conversation. I miss her terribly. So many do.
My dad is getting better and is out and about and we are so thankful for the many who prayed!
I have Phillip on speed dial which has been so fun! It became a habit out of necessity - joining forces to help get our dad well - then it became fun too.
Vance is looking forward to a fishing trip.
Our pets want warmer weather and longer days. Can't believe it is February first! TIME IS FLYING!
I am so thankful for good friends who make the journey sweeter. There is so much stress in this world. Prayerful fun friends are a sweet, needed blessing. I am very thankful for our kids' friends too!
HAPPY FEBRUARY!
Chilly days, good days
7 degrees, 14 degrees ..... Gosh these days are chilly but the sunshine is glorious! Each day little ice crystals for on the Russian Olives...
