I don't remember having a morning as crisp as this one in a previous August. I woke up and our deck was so cold. I think it got down to 46 degrees here last night. I never want to say good bye to summer but oh how I do love fall.
August typically overwhelms me. Well, it overwhelms me most when sending a child off to college for their first time or sending a son or daughter off to middle school or high school for their first time. I don't have to remind myself to breathe as much this August. Willem has two years of college under his belt and will start at Whitworth. Hazel will be a junior. She has absolutely lived her best life this summer. I LOVE her friend group! She is cheering, making memories, and having so much fun. Oren will be a 7th grader! Middle school was an adjustment but half way in this past year he was really enjoying it. He spent the last week in remote Alaska!
This summer has been full of baseball, horses, photography, FLOWERS, and making memories. The weather, other than some smokey days, has been perfect. I have loved the mornings in my garden!
Hazel and Oren do not start school until September 3rd! SEPTEMBER THIRD! It feels so wonderful. School should never begin in August in my opinion.
I have been working on a book - a novel - for quite some time. The slow days and even boring days of Covid got me excited about getting thoughts and characters down on paper. Those characters began to become people I felt like I knew. I was 90 percent done for over a year, just struggling at completing it. I completed my book one week ago! I had two copies printed to send off to two people who were agreeable when I asked them to edit it. I hope I can get it sent off to the publisher in September.
There is so much to look forward to.
