Saturday

Little Dribblers this morning was so fun! Our high school guys do a great job!

Hazel gets to go roller skating tonight! At the Soap Lake roller rink!

Our pasture is dramatic. Bootstraps is not taking to Smokey Otis.

My laundry is piled high, Christmas projects postponed.  You will find us in the pasture.

Uncle Phil is in town! We all do better when Phil shows up!

A strong win occurred for our varsity Mavs last night!

Bootstraps and Smokey Otis

Bootstraps has been stubborn and gentle, handsome as can be. He is good friends with our two goats, Roxie and Tillie. These three find company and comfort in each other.

Vance decided about five, six months ago that we really needed a second horse. Hazel and I disagreed a bit but really were not sure what the best situation would be for Bootstraps,  for all of us.

Vance guessed Bootstraps was a little depressed. I felt he was happy.
We decided to look a bit.
We ended up with Otis yesterday, I believe his name is Smokey but I can't stop calling him Otis.
His 4 1/2 hour trailer trip left him nervous and with dust in his eyes. Bootstraps is keeping him away from food and water. He believes this is HIS barn.

But Otis is like the quiet kid at school. He is timid and sweet, friendly too.
I taught third grade today and loved every second of it but could barely wait to get home to these horses. Hazel had the detangler out and a comb in her hand.

He may not fit in with Bootstraps - YET - but he fits in with the humans.

The good stuff

I taught first grade yesterday and oh my goodness those kids were good for my soul! I belly laughed a few times. I loved seeing how creative they were in their writing. They were excited about a little paper doll art activity I brought in for them. They were so fun.

I have an order to fill today for 60 Christmas cards! It is so fun to get creative.

LADY MAVS

@Lake Bowl today! 3 pm - first 20 fans get a T shirt!

I am proud of Wild Will and his work ethic and attitude!

It is a challenging year for basketball.

We are a 4A school and only three seniors tried out.

We are a young team, a young team building character.

Hazel Jane - cheering last night! Oh I love this girl!!

Merit has a little baseball world series going on tonight and tomorrow with his Westcliff team. Praying Merit shines.

So fun for these guys!

SNOW!

The snow started falling Thursday night, Willem and I were driving home from his Kennewick game.
Friday it snowed!
Yesterday was gorgeous! The sun shone on the snow and Oren and Hazel loved playing in it. Today, everything is melting.

Today will be a quiet day. Welcomed, for sure.

Tuesday

Buff Puff tonight at the HS! Man , I love our people!!

These kids make these events so much fun!!

Today has been so cold! The frost never really cleared - there was freezing fog as I took Hazel to cheer this morning.

The coyotes are getting closer and more brazen. They're inching their way to the barn and the shop. We lost a really great barn cat, (she sort of had our hearts) I am sure it was a coyote.

We need a good mouser at our barn but to have them get eaten is no fun at all. Vance even put a cat door to lead into the heated tack room - this has helped but this is the time of year coyotes are hungry and it's cold....

We keep on keepin' on - I decorated for Christmas and we are loving it.

Chilly days, good days

7 degrees, 14 degrees ..... Gosh these days are chilly but the sunshine is glorious! Each day little ice crystals for on the Russian Olives...
